Launched in 2002, REPs is an independent, public register which recognises the qualifications and expertise of health-enhancing exercise instructors in the UK. REPs provide a system of regulation for instructors and trainers to ensure that they meet the health and fitness industry’s agreed National Occupational Standards.
REPs provide assurance and confidence to the public and employers that all professionals on the Register are appropriately qualified and have the knowledge, competence and skills to perform their role effectively.
Fitness professionals on the REPs register are required to accumulate 24 CPD points over 2 years. Different courses and workshops are allocated a certain number of REPs points and it is the responsibility of the instructor to maintain and document these points in order to remain on the Register of Exercise Professionals.
