About the Team
Meet the team of people behind Pure Training and Development.
Emma Haughton
I am the owner of Pure Training and Development and the PTD Hub, offering fitness courses, seminars and CPD training for special population groups.
At University I realised I wanted to work in a role where I could support people that needed extra care, knowledge and support. This sparked my passion for working with special population groups and for the last 10 years I have worked in the field of exercise referral and Phase IV cardiac rehab. I've also worked in various other roles including corporate health assessment through to teaching Sports Science at my local college. The knowledge, experience and passion to improve the health and wellbeing of people around me led to the desire to train more people to do the same. That was the start of Pure Training and Development.
I am involved in the whole learner journey and enjoy speaking to and getting to know those that choose to study with us. I developed the PTD Hub to ensure instructors were not left stranded upon qualification and that there is ongoing mentor and training support available. I really like being able to see how instructors implement their qualifications and support their communities.
I thoroughly enjoy both working in the field and being able to meet like-minded professionals through ongoing education.
When I'm not working, I can be found running around after my one and half year old daughter, keeping fit and wakeboarding.

I have been in the fitness industry for 27 years, teaching classes and working in gyms before moving into management.
In 2003 I moved from working in leisure clubs to teaching and assessing fitness courses as well as quality assurance. I have worked with various organisations to deliver a range of qualifications. During this time I have always taught classes in the community including exercise referral, fitness Pilates and fitness yoga.
I am currently one of the main IQA's for Pure Training and Development, working to ensure we provide high standard qualifications and when I’m not performing this role, I will be supporting learners through other courses as their tutor/assessor. I am also a contributor to the blog posts on both the Pure Training and Development and the PTD Hub platforms.
I like to keep fit and work out in the gym 3 or 4 times a week and my favourite things are functional resistance work and virtual indoor cycling. I also like outdoor cycling and going on hikes and walking holidays with my husband.
My first career was in botanical illustration and I still paint as a hobby and have ridden horses since I was young, I love horses and still try and ride once a week.

I run Dereham Osteopathic and Sports Injuries Clinic, which has been running for 30 years! I see a broad range of people from retired to adolescents and have an interest in how sports injuries develop. I worked in professional sport for 12 years and taught at the UEA and Easton-Otley College. One day, a few years ago, Emma contacted me about the possibility of working together as we had similar interests. It’s been great to work together to help PTs achieve their goals. Outside of work , I enjoy trying to maintain my own fitness and learn guitar.

I work behind the scenes at Pure Training and Development. Although most people will not speak to me, I’m here taking care of admin duties and issuing PTD Hub members their certificates.
I am new to the fitness industry, having spent 4 years working in admin in the Insurance Industry, and then 7 years in admin in the Motor Trade. In 2017 I had my daughter and decided to leave work and become a full-time stay at home mum, which I have loved doing.
I have known Emma for many years, we actually went to Playgroup together when we were little, but we won’t mention how many years ago that was!
I’ve always had a very keen interest in sport and fitness. My main hobby is hockey, I have been playing in local teams for 21 years. I also really enjoy running, circuit training, swimming weekly, family walks and bike rides. Chasing after my very energetic toddler daughter certainly helps to keep me fit too, but when I’m not doing that I love to bake and decorate cakes and follow the Formula 1 racing season.
